Zuluk to Bagdogra, the road condition inside Sikkim

This is the last video of our travel to Zuluk, Sikkim. It is a video to caution future travellers regarding the road condition that they may face while travelling to and from Zuluk. Inside Sikkim, the road is under Border Road Organization (BRO) but in an extremely poor condition. Senior citizens may face difficulty in negotiating the road even in a comfortable MPV or SUV. According to our chauffeur, the road remains more or less in similar condition, even though I found repair works being carried out. There are very small stretches of this road, inside Sikkim, which can be termed as good. Inside West Bengal, the road is absolutely fine.

Dilmaya home-stay, the approach road

This is the first home-stay that came up at Zuluk and we stayed here for three nights. We soaked the warmth of their kitchen, having hot tea and chatting with the lady of the house. It was such a great experience for us and it was truly a "home-stay". The phone number is available online. They actually arrange for everything, have good cars and great chauffeurs. Munna drove the Mahindra Xylo assigned to us, and such a great person he is. I would suggest booking the home-stay directly rather than going through an agent and take a package directly from them. It would be cheaper and hassle-free.

A small introduction to Dzuluk aka zuluk

It was quite interesting to know how Dzuluk became the Zuluk we know today. How the effort of a man single-handedly converted this nowhere, a place which was not even on the map of Sikkim, to a famous tourist hub. Here is a short introduction to this beautiful village.

The Old Baba Mandir

On the way to Kupup Lake from Nathang Valley

This was how the road looked. The road condition was pretty poor even though it is maintained by the Indian Army. The jerk visible in the video is the same as we felt while traveling.

Nathang Valley Viewpoint

“I wonder if the snow loves the trees and fields, that it kisses them so gently? And then it covers them up snug, you know, with a white quilt; and perhaps it says, "Go to sleep, darlings, till the summer comes again.”
